Tell us about yourself. Tell us a little about your work.
I am the General Manager of Body Creations Ink Tattoo and Piercing Studio.
I am also co-owner of Lunchbox Press…which publishes the comic book Listen to the Thunder and horror anthology Graveyard Slaughter.
Writer and co-creator of Listen to the Thunder and co-writer of the horror anthology Graveyard Slaughter.
Tell us about your experience with comic books. What is the first comic book you remember reading? What is your favorite single comic book story?
Started reading comics in grade school. GI Joe and Transformers. Teenage years brought X-Men, Daredevil, and Punisher. Introduced to The Sandman in college…blew my mind. Really dug the Vertigo line.
Favorite single comic book story was Preacher.
What was the first convention you ever attended? What are your most vivid memories about that show?
Fantasy Shop Convention, St. Louis, MO…1998. Promoting my one and done comic, Guy Pumpkinhead. Our main notoriety was that actor, Bruce Campbell, did the introduction for us. Got to hang with Rob Schrab and Dan Harmon. They were promoting the Scud under their Fireman Press. They obviously went on to do greater things. Most vivid memory at that convention was sitting down with Michael Zulli, and him telling me that I will make it in comics one day…I’m still trying.
What comics, books, TV, and movies are you enjoying right now?
Comics: I read a lot of Image. Pretty much anything Rick Remender puts out. Sad to see Harrow County end…that was next level story telling. It was like author, Robert R. McCammon, decided to do a comic. Incredibly strong stuff by author Cullen Bunn and artist Tyler Crook.
Books: Really dig the Hap and Leonard series by Joe R. Lansdale. Also getting into horror author Paul Tremblay…been a long time since a book scared me…his book A Head Full of Ghosts has regained my love for horror fiction.
TV: Been watching Hap and Leonard and Ash vs The Evil Dead…know they’ve been cancelled…just appreciating both for their brilliance.
Movies: Finally saw Black Panther…floored me. Enjoying indie horror…looking forward to seeing Hereditary.
What are you looking to most when it comes to Cave Con’s inaugural event?
I hope Cave Con really stomps…like brings the ruckas…and sets the groundwork for more Cave Cons.
