As we know it is difficult to resist temptation; we will find that it is a disgrace to our lord we will give into temptation and feel to follow the orders of the Lord . We should really feel sorry for Paul when he say these words, “l buffet my body and make it my slave, lest possibly, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified. ” (1 Cor. 9:27) Trying to live in this sin filled word and obey all that is right in the word is a very hard, but is an accomplishable duty. We must understand he life of a Christians is a godly one.
As we farther read in the scripture we are being told of the righteous life instead of the sinful Not that we must try to live a godly life, but we are expected to live a godly life. Even though we are not at all free from the work of sin, we do not have to be over taken by it. The difference between the biblical audience and us today is they were under the law and Paul was trying to get them to do what was write by God to enter into the salvation of the lord. Back in the iblical time they could not understand why it was so much sin with them under the law.
Now in todays time all we know is what is spiritual and we as Christian all we have is the word of God to lead and guide us each day to live godly lives. As we study the scripture we can see the contrast is not so much between a Spirit-filled Christian and a disobedient Christian. It is what Paul tells us in the verse when he tell us to be led by the Spirit, because we are not no way under the law we a strictly spiritual folk s we know God is a spirit and in order to serve the lord we must be in the spirit.
Let’s take a quick look at under the law which is earthly as in the courts, family rules and rules of this world which means we are not saved by Christ, but when you are saved thru Christ you don’t have to worry about the law ,because the spirit we keep you on the right path. “For all who are being led by the Spirit, these are sons of God. ” (Romans 8:14) Galatians 5:16-18 is far too important in the life of the church not o be correctly understood and taught.
It heads one of the most familiar texts in all the New Testament regarding the Christian life, the works of the flesh, and the fruit of the Spirit. This text needs to be proclaimed in a way consistent with Paul’s conviction. We who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh??”our old way of life, dominated by sin??”and now have the ability to live a godly life. May we hear more of this great victory brought through Christ? Law is set against the Spirit in the opening f chapter 3, w. 3-5.
This ongoing conversation between the two were of much the time of the Galatians and of very critical importance for the Galatians, As in todays time you had a number of people pressing for the use of circumsion and do certain thing the Jewish way . Paul was one who did not go along with this type of law and would always put the spirit up against the law. Paul fghts against this notion, and frames his argument in terms of Law vs. Spirit. This is the way he begins the chapter. TEMTATION By Jonnnnorm
